heidi o. Rées: Journalist + Essayist
Stories that illuminate the overlooked, inspire compassion, and invite you to see the world — and yourself — with fresh eyes.
Be Astonished. Be Moved. Be Seen.
This is where questions linger, truths refuse to sit pretty and still, and answers politely decline to be tied with a bow. You won’t find definitive answers wrapped up in string; instead, the goal is to spark curiosity, reflection, and ongoing exploration. Here, the mundane reveals its extraordinary layers, the unnoticed becomes vital, and you’re invited to see yourself — and the world — with bold and unflinching clarity. Let this be a starting point, a mirror, a compass.
Welcome.
“A feminist out to make trouble.”
–angry man I used to work with
I am a journalist, writer and champion of girls in science and art who lives at the junction of authenticity and healing.
For three decades I studied and practiced the root necessities of how sound learning and teaching happen, mostly from my home base in the Rocky Mountain West.
From research, observation and experience I now report and write the stories — some of which I’ve yearned a lifetime to tell — of how place shapes people, how breath and movement shape the human body, and how history shapes the choices we make and sometimes are forced to make in real time in the world today.
Thank you for joining me.
